The Man Behind The Camera

Chris McCabe is based in Durban and works predominantly in Kwazulu Natal but will happily travel throughout South Africa.

Chris fell in love with photography at the age of 14, where he would shoot with an old 35mm camera given to him by his mom. In later years, Chris decided to turn his passion into a career and learned as much as he could about photography and lighting through various courses and gaining experience by shadowing other well-known photographers. Chris' professional career in photography started many years ago, when he felt that he had learnt enough to be able to take unique and memorable photo's for his clients.

Chris specialises in wedding photography and is passionate about capturing the happy couples' moment in a unique and special way. His knack for people allows him to create a rapport with his clients where they are relaxed in front of the camera. Some of his favourite photo's from his shoots are the natural ones where his clients have totally forgotten about the camera, as these are the most memorable images that tell a beautiful story about the happy couple.

Chris also enjoys doing fun family shoots and watching how the families interact with each other as well as commercial projects and event photography.

When Chris isn't working, you can usually find him at the gym, running with his two huskies or helping out at Husky Rescue KZN, where he is a volunteer. Chris is also fascinated by the beauty of nature. Hence when Chris gets a weekend off, he loves to take time out by hiking in the mountains and capturing the landscapes along the way.

We could go on, but what they say is true: A picture really does paint a thousand words. So, make yourself at home, grab a cup of coffee and have a look through some of Chris’s work in the portfolio and blog sections!
